On the move
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 | Astrology for You | No Comments
I am amidst a move from our home of the past 19 years—books are packed and I hope to be settled into our new home as Spring begins… it is impossible to write or concentrate on writing while our home is transformed into a house! I am shutting down my office for about two weeks as of March 1. I will return to writing columns sometime in March. My contact information remains the same—only moving 10 minutes drive away… I am currently booking clients for the last week of March.
Thoughts about Pluto
Friday, February 19th, 2010 | Astrology for You | No Comments
In a recent conversation with a colleague we talked about Pluto and what Pluto in the 12th house might mean. Some of the keywords for Pluto are rather negative—death, destruction, atomic bombs and that vague word ‘transformation’. In my life Pluto has finished with my twelfth house and in my friends chart that is influence is now active for another 5-6 years. Pluto is not all bad. I think that the role of Pluto is to unearth anything we may have repressed-the length of time is irrelevant to Pluto. My favourite description for how Pluto operates involves the septic tank. The septic tank processes waste, spreading onto the septic field via perforated pipes and this liquid in turn fertilizes the ground. Astrology associates Pluto with elimination and waste. When the septic tank is too full or the field is not functioning properly the waste will back up inside the house. Naturally it is the lack of maintenance that is the culprit. However, if you have ever had to clean up returned sewage, you know it is not that pleasant. › Continue reading
Updates to website
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009 | Astrology for You | No Comments
I am busily updating my website, the personalized astrology reports page has been revamped and I added a few new report options. The most recent one is about money and prosperity; the nature of money and how we might learn to generate it with more ease. Check these out at www.astrologicallyspeaking.com/reportsonline.htm. I also added Jupiter’s Promise to the selection, this is another excellent lifetime report written by professional astrologer, Stephanie Clement. These reports offer a wealth of information very inexpensively. The different reports are listed on page Reports about you (see pages under banner) At this time of year make excellent last minute gifts, you can print it at home and put it inside some pretty covers—a gift of insight. Working on my annual horoscopes, which I will post by year’s end.
Pluto, Saturn and the Moon
Friday, November 13th, 2009 | Ask Anne, Astrology for You | 5 Comments
I had a question about what it means when Pluto is transiting on the Moon is an astrological chart and Saturn in Libra is squaring both transiting Pluto and the natal Moon. It would take an article or two to address what this might mean. Firstly I want to state that it is important to look at the entire chart to get a good idea about what else is involved. Pluto, very simplistically represents profound change and when it influences the reflective, sensitive and highly personal planet, such as the Moon, our emotions, our daily experiences and comfort zone becomes something we have to address in depth. The Moon in Capricorn might mean that a person has always had a tight leash on emotions, what is practical, matters more than how it might feel. Openly showing emotion, crying in public or even losing one’s temper are not natural for Moon in Capricorn. I think Tracy Marks used a quote “Always listen to the control tower” as a description for Moon in Capricorn. Pluto has a knack of unearthing anything hidden, repressed or ignored, thus all kinds of emotional stuff is likely to emerge for your scrutiny. Saturn is the taskmaster of the Zodiac, and always wants something constructive to emerge from our ‘work’. So the question becomes, you have realized this about yourself now what are you going to do about it. During a time like this people may find that counselling is helpful. Now as with any energy, all of the action can play outside of your experience. Perhaps a sibling is making dramatic changes with career or marrying someone you don’t approve and have to learn to live with… We learn astrological concepts through isolating parts of it; however, the only way we can understand our lives is by integrating all of the concepts. This particular configuration playing out in one’s life, might be a time I would state, talk to astrologer about your chart, don’t try to figure it all out for yourself-you are more likely to fixate on the potential negative expression of the energy rather than welcoming the opportunity to know yourself more truthfully.
Saturn in Libra

“Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish.”— John Quincy Adams
Saturn is the last planet visible to the naked eye. The seasons on Saturn last about 7.5 years—on August 11, 2009 there was an Equinox on Saturn. I would assume Autumn seeing that Saturn is in the autumnal signs now. The picture I have used here was taken by Cassini at our Equinox in September 2009.
New images reveal that there are mountains on the rings of Saturn. These are as high as some of the peaks in the Rocky Mountains, which are 4800 kilometres in length and stretch from New Mexico via Montana, Utah, and Colorado to British Columbia and Alberta. I always remember a drive through Colorado and the awe of seeing the majestic mountains; and I don’t ever tire at looking at the mountains here in British Columbia. The scientists are calculating that the mountains on the rings of Saturn are up to four kilometres high (that’s about 2.5 miles). See the images at http://ciclops.org/ir_index/118/Cassini_In_Orbit. In astrology rocks and mountains belong to Saturn; it is fascinating that there are actual mountains up there. It makes me wonder what the ancient astrologers/astronomers knew that we are now rediscovering through science and space exploration.
Saturn is the greater malefic in astrology, and many of the concepts we hear associated with Saturn are not pleasant. However, there are tons of positive concepts as well. I happen to like Saturn; it is prominent in my chart, so I really don’t have a choice. Saturn is moving into its sign of exaltation—Libra on October 29, 2009. Seeing that it is my birthday, I am thinking of it as a present. Planets gain strength when they move through the sign of their exaltation. › Continue reading
Mars Story 2009-2010

Timeline: October 16, 2009-June 6, 2010
“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third, by experience, which is the bitterest.”—Confucius, philosopher and teacher
Mars overview
Some years bring many unusual planetary events, others less so. We now have a year of Pluto in Capricorn under our belts and know that these are exceptional times. This energy stays with us until 2023 (and a little while as a rerun in 2024). Just in case we missed something the first go around. Everything repeats in some form in our lifetime and there are eras that played out with similar themes, our recollection of these is naturally limited. It would be difficult to live our lives if we recalled everything from this one. It would be almost impossible if we recalled previous lives in detail.
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” — Albert Einstein. That quote contains the essence of the Mars-energy, we need to find new ways to do things and eliminate the ones that have not yielded the desired results. With Mars in Leo, we have the opportunity to connect with our personal creative spark, think ‘outside the box’—to be innovative. › Continue reading
Relationships Astrological Basics
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009 | Astrology for You, astrology basics, relationships | No Comments
I just finished typing a short essay about how I became an astrologer—and it made me realize that the very first thing I became interested in was not who I was but what made relationships work. I decided to begin a series of essays about the insights astrology can offer. These days when I teach astrology I begin with the elements which describe our natural temperament, the way we are. These also instantly help us understand how we relate others. Understanding the four elements also gives insights into what else astrologers see when translating symbols into spoken language.
I will use pictures and basic symbols before even looking at the astrological glyphs, which are a means of encoding information. Symbols and pictographs have always been a way of storing information in a condensed manner. In this first instalment we will look at the circle. A circle has no beginning or ending, in astrology we have many circles, which represent eternity, primordial unity, inner perfection, and the heavens. The circle is also a symbol of time, the cosmic egg and creation. › Continue reading

Sun moves into Leo
Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 | Astrology for You, Current Planetary trends | No Comments
The Sun moves into Leo July 22, 2009 at 9:36 PDT, following an eclipse on July 21, 2009. I am writing on the day of the solar eclipse, I have had a few emails from colleagues who talk about the impact of the eclipses—I personally have never been able to predict what an eclipse will bring to an individual, have predicted a few forest fires, etc. I think of eclipses as timers, we might choose to finally ask our girlfriend to marry us; suggest that we move in together; decide to return to school despite the financial hardship and even choose to move countries, I moved to Canada back 1990 with the same eclipse that is taking place. A family member became engaged after about a decade of dating; someone else I know is planning a wedding after dating her fellow for over 10 years; my cousin made a trip of a lifetime back home after a 40 year absence, another family member is changing careers and going back to school, another found a career opportunity of a lifetime… in short ECLIPSES! Overnight Success Susan Boyle
Monday, June 1st, 2009 | Current Planetary trends, Venus stories | No Comments
Imagine living 48 years in relative obscurity and then two months of unprecedented fame and attention. In March when Susan Boyle made headlines across the globe and her performance made history on You Tube, I wrote about her chart, and came to the conclusion that she would get a record deal but would not win. The press and media love to sensationalize the life of people—they have become increasingly invasive, aggressive. News comes to us in sound bites, headlines intended to sell advertising or copy. Even Canadian National News broadcasts have followed her sensational rise to fame, I learnt about her second place on the evening news and the next day (May 31) CTVs national news broadcast advised the audience that Susan had checked into a London clinic. From the same source I also heard that she had checked into a hotel to escape the media the night prior to the finale. How do you cope with such dramatic, sudden rise to fame—this kind of popularity typically belongs to the rich and famous, who usually have had some time to adjust to it, find a publicity person and advisors to help cope with the media. From a perspective of astrology, Susan’s birth certificate was almost instantly available on the web. We can instantly find out what is going on with her by googling her name. The latest is that she has reportedly suffering from mental exhaustion. Other than the press, who would be surprised? › Continue reading
