New Moon in Taurus
Friday, May 14th, 2010 | Astrology for You, Current Planetary trends, astrologer's diary
There was a new Moon last night, at 23°Taurus. A new lunar month was launched. It is the ideal time to seed something new for growth, staying power. For about 7 days each month, the Moon is invisible. The crescent will make its appearance May 17, when she is in her own sign of Cancer. May 21st half of the Moon’s surface will be illuminated and the Full Moon takes place May 27, at that time the Moon will be in future-oriented Sagittarius. So now is the time to seed something with future and long-range ideals in mind. While the Moon is waxing to Full, we are naturally growing something in our lives. Astrological lore recommends hair cuts for faster growth during the waxing Moon. If you want your hair cut to last longer cut it while the Moon is waning from Full to New.

The New Moon phase is instinctive, response-oriented. The Crescent Phase is about instinctive action. The First quarter Moon is typically name crises in action-we might find ourselves ‘putting out fires’ (mostly figuratively) based on the situations that arose during the three and a half days of the New Moon. The gibbous phase days are for perfecting, we may feel a tad rushed when we perceive the huge amount of things to accomplish—some of it will wait! The full Moon is approaching; in fact it looks almost full in the sky. The Full Moon tends to be about relationship and relating issues. With the Gemini-Sagittarius axis in play this go-around, we just might find that our views and opinions are not the same as those of another. Such is life, and we need to seek common ground. We might also tune more into what the changes we feel are coming actually are.
Uranus is moving into Aries May 27 and Jupiter follows June 6. The former has a seven year cycle through a sign and Jupiter sometimes spends 12 months in a sign-not this time. Read more about Jupiter in my review. So if you are an Aries, life is about to become rather interesting. Pay attention to what is in the news at the end of the month; the headlines tend to reflect what is in store for us collectively for the next seven years.
The disseminating phase of the Moon begins on the last day of May. The Moon is now waning, and it is time to give back. This is about sharing of our knowledge, resources, etc. June 4 begins the last quarter Moon, which is typically called crises in consciousness. I find that people are typically dealing work related matters as opposed to family matters that are prominent with the first quarter Moon phase. We tend to let go of things with the last quarter Moon. The Balsamic phase is when the Moon vanishes from the sky. It is a natural time to digest what the month held for us, a time for reflection and appreciating what you learned about life over the lunar month.
The next New Moon takes place June 12, and now we should go after new information and prepare for the Full Moon in Capricorn (at 4°Capricorn 46′; the Sun will be at the same degree in Cancer). This is a lunar eclipse, which is a potent Full Moon, often a tad tenser than a regular Full Moon. All of the insights and information about our current situation is in full view. Naturally we can choose to ignore what we just discovered.
July is the eclipse season, there is Solar Eclipse at 19°Cancer 24′ on July 11. Eclipses repeat at 19-year intervals, at the same degree and on the same day—thus these two repeat from 1991. The Solar Eclipse is a total one. From NASA website: The path of the Moon’s umbral shadow crosses the South Pacific Ocean where it makes no landfall except for Mangaia (Cook Islands) and Easter Island (Isla de Pascua). The path of totality ends just after reaching southern Chile and Argentina. The Moon’s penumbral shadow produces a partial eclipse visible from a much larger region covering the South Pacific and southern South America. Solar Eclipses tend to manifest in mundane matters—in our personal lives it is akin to a timer going off, and only when our personal horoscopes connect with the degree of the eclipse.
