Saturn, the Sun or the Moon
Monday, May 31st, 2010 | Ask Anne, Astrology Students, Astrology for You, astrology basics | No Comments
Your question: I’ve noticed that Saturn has returned to Virgo for a bit longer and will be heading back into Libra shortly. With my Sun in Virgo and my moon in Libra I was just wondering which is usually more difficult for someone to go through, Saturn in their Sun sign or Saturn in their Moon sign? Fire and Ice with Uranus in Aries
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 | Astrology for You, Current Planetary trends, astrologer's diary | 1 Comment
I am writing my Uranus in Aries Review, it is progressing quite well. It will be posted in fairly short order at www.astrologicallyspeaking.com/UranusAries2010-19.htm. The image I chose was the volcanic activity in Iceland, taking place at the glacier with the unpronounceable name: Eyjafjallajökull—you can find the pronunciation on Wikipedia, the website that has quickly replaced traditional reference books. I used to know people from Iceland—their language sounds like poetry, soft and melodic—I could have listened to them talk for hours without understanding a word. Ice is solid water. Uranus finishes its main journey through the water sign of Pisces by moving into the first, most volatile fire sign, Aries. What lies beneath the surface and what kind of power it might have… isn’t nature awesome. The Review period for Uranus in Pisces is from August 13, 2010 to March 11, 2011. We need to finish anything that was left on hold in terms of change, innovation and re-inventing an aspect of our lives. The last kick at the can for another 84 years, tends to be something we remember for quite a while—no going back to how things used to be. › Continue reading
Interceptions
Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 | Astrology Students, Astrology for You, astrology basics | 1 Comment
Intercepted signs are those that have no cusp in the astrological wheel based on various house systems. The interceptions vary between house systems. A chart may have an intercepted pair of signs in one house system and none in another, or a different set of signs. Illustrations in the article use the chart of Nick Clegg. › Continue reading
Astrology Students test their knowledge
Monday, May 17th, 2010 | astrologer's diary, astrology basics | No Comments
On Saturday I had students writing a basic astrology exam at my house, all had taken classes with another instructor, a big change from a few years ago. Back then all of the students were my students; I love progress. The exams are offered in May and November each year—this year no exams will be offered in November. We choose the best Saturday in May; try to avoid Mercury retrograde and prefer to choose a date when the Moon is waxing. The exams are administered by the Canadian Association for Astrological Education; I was not involved in creating the exams this year, but it turned out that the level exam was one I prepared with a colleague back in 2007. Over 40 students of astrology wrote exams on basic astrology, natal chart delineation, forecasting and mathematics of astrology across Canada this past weekend. The tests are standardized; everyone gets the same test at each of the different levels. It is exciting to see that the Canadian Association for Astrological Education is becoming more recognized across the country. We are growing and are numbers are increasing. Back in December the first diploma astrologers graduated. The structure of the organization is changing to meet the growth and we are working hard on improving the resources to both our students and teachers. › Continue reading
New Moon in Taurus
Friday, May 14th, 2010 | Astrology for You, Current Planetary trends, astrologer's diary | No Comments
There was a new Moon last night, at 23°Taurus. A new lunar month was launched. It is the ideal time to seed something new for growth, staying power. For about 7 days each month, the Moon is invisible. The crescent will make its appearance May 17, when she is in her own sign of Cancer. May 21st half of the Moon’s surface will be illuminated and the Full Moon takes place May 27, at that time the Moon will be in future-oriented Sagittarius. So now is the time to seed something with future and long-range ideals in mind. While the Moon is waxing to Full, we are naturally growing something in our lives. Astrological lore recommends hair cuts for faster growth during the waxing Moon. If you want your hair cut to last longer cut it while the Moon is waning from Full to New. › Continue reading
Prime Minister David Cameron
Tuesday, May 11th, 2010 | Mundane astrology, astrologer's diary | No Comments
After a busy day, I decided to check what if any result there was out of Britain now that Mercury stationed direct in the money sign of Taurus—decisions need to be made promptly. How simple the astrology was… the charts of the contenders and who would get along best with the King Maker. The new British Prime Minister is a Libra Sun with late Virgo Ascendant and Moon in Sagittarius, based on the approximate 6 AM birth time as per www.astro.com , his date of birth is October 6, 1966, London, England. I am opting to use 5:52 AM, because of the time he walked into 10 Downing Street. (BBC site has minute by minute tweets about this.) Hey, it’s not like I have to predict for him. Clegg became the Deputy Prime Minister; obviously the Capricorn Sun knows what it wants and how to get it. Cameron has his work cut out, he begins it with Saturn in his first house—lots of responsibility and he might have a few shocks along the way this summer as he learns details he was not privy to as an MP.
King Maker’s Choice
Monday, May 10th, 2010 | Current Planetary trends, Mundane astrology, astrologer's diary | No Comments
The British Elections took place May 6, 2010 with the Sun in Taurus and the Moon in Aquarius. The keywords might have been stability through change. The polls closed at 22:00; some apparently closed doors 15 minutes prior, and left voters standing in line without the opportunity to vote. The ascending degree in London was 3°Sagittarius, which is the position for the Moon in the chart of David Cameron—his star is rising. The ruler, Jupiter was at 24° Pisces 56′; this might be the indicator of the King Maker. It connected with the Saturn in the charts of the two flexible, mutable, contenders: Clegg and Cameron (birthdata at the end of this post). For Gordon Brown the beneficial energy of Jupiter connected with his natal Venus—might be good, but not necessarily. Jupiter is also know exasperate a situation. Venus represents social skills and Gordon Brown’s recent blunder with a voter became something he couldn’t live down. When people desire stability, Saturn would be more to the point than Venus. At the time the polls close retrograde Saturn hugged the Midheaven in Virgo (from the 9th house) and the ruler of the MC, Mercury, was in the fifth and also retrograde—no immediate result for who is to be prime minister. › Continue reading
Jupiter Review, British Elections;the Astrologer’s Diary
Saturday, May 1st, 2010 | Astrology for You, Current Planetary trends, Venus stories, astrologer's diary | No Comments
Jupiter is in Pisces for a few more weeks, and returns for a repeat later this year. I finally finished my review of Jupiter for 2010-2011; you will find it at www.astrologicallyspeaking.com/JupiterPisces-Aries.htm. The review columns feature horoscopes and address a longer period of time. For now on my blog I am writing my Astrologer’s Diary. I don’t send notices about every entry—my emails are periodic, and you are welcome to be on my list, just drop me an email. Off the blog you can subscribe to the automated RSS feed and your browser will show updates. Driving home around 9 o’clock the other night from the Langley Quilters’ Guild meeting I noticed once again how brilliant Venus is in the evening sky. When I was walking into our house there was an aeroplane flying toward west (well between west and north) and apart from the flashing red lights Venus’ light was brighter. Venus is in Gemini, which can be delightful for all air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius). This is a short passage with another 12 days or so left. At the end of this year, Venus will be spending lots of time in Libra and Scorpio; Venus will be retrograde for a magical 40 days and 40 nights. The last time Venus was in this cycle was at the end of 2002. Naturally I will blog about that later in the year, if you can’t wait to know-why not pick up a copy of Venus at the bookstore. The articles I wrote back in 2002 are still on my website www.astrologicallyspeaking.com. › Continue reading
