Pluto, Saturn and the Moon

Friday, November 13th, 2009 | Ask Anne, Astrology for You

I had a question about what it means when Pluto is transiting on the Moon is an astrological chart and Saturn in Libra is squaring both transiting Pluto and the natal Moon. It would take an article or two to address what this might mean. Firstly I want to state that it is important to look at the entire chart to get a good idea about what else is involved. Pluto, very simplistically represents profound change and when it influences the reflective, sensitive and highly personal planet, such as the Moon, our emotions, our daily experiences and comfort zone becomes something we have to address in depth. The Moon in Capricorn might mean that a person has always had a tight leash on emotions, what is practical, matters more than how it might feel. Openly showing emotion, crying in public or even losing one’s temper are not natural for Moon in Capricorn. I think Tracy Marks used a quote “Always listen to the control tower” as a description for Moon in Capricorn. Pluto has a knack of unearthing anything hidden, repressed or ignored, thus all kinds of emotional stuff is likely to emerge for your scrutiny. Saturn is the taskmaster of the Zodiac, and always wants something constructive to emerge from our ‘work’. So the question becomes, you have realized this about yourself now what are you going to do about it. During a time like this people may find that counselling is helpful. Now as with any energy, all of the action can play outside of your experience. Perhaps a sibling is making dramatic changes with career or marrying someone you don’t approve and have to learn to live with… We learn astrological concepts through isolating parts of it; however, the only way we can understand our lives is by integrating all of the concepts. This particular configuration playing out in one’s life, might be a time I would state, talk to astrologer about your chart, don’t try to figure it all out for yourself-you are more likely to fixate on the potential negative expression of the energy rather than welcoming the opportunity to know yourself more truthfully.

I especially liked your comment on the energy, provided by aspects, not having to be a personal experience. I could see for the first time that wherever the aspects falls in the four corners of one’s chart would indicate the connection of the experience. I do, like you said about taking the aspect out of context with the rest of the chart, and more than likely the negative side and then wonder how this is going to happent to ME, instead of the rest of the people in my world. Thank you

You opened up an understanding for our son about the Moon in Capricorn…He seems so practical, and yet with Uranus in Cancer, I know there has to be many emotions. That generation was a very confused 7 year group. I wish I’d understood more at that time.

We tend to forget that our world and our view of it is in our personal horoscope. The energy always plays out, however, it might not be about ME. However, we are the only ones at the centre of our universe. The planetary energy simply is… how it plays out from our perspective may be positive or negative. As we mature, become more aware and experience more cycles, we respond differently. For example once we have lived through a few decades of the infamous Mercury retrograde cycle, much of the ‘hoopla’ is just that hoopla–something so trivial that it truly does not matter. I am writing my Mercury review for 2010; the energy begins playing out December 5, 2009 and I will be posting it before I head for Toronto. I send out an e-mailer once or twice a month to my readers, simply by sending me an email, you can choose to receive it.

He might have a very quick, innovative mind and be able to create concrete results with his ideations.

I just had pluto square pluto last 2 years, wich has been intens so to speak. “So the question becomes, you have realized this about yourself now what are you going to do about it.” Yes indead. But i feel tired, so i will probalbly take your advise because i recognise what you say: “talk to astrologer about your chart, don’t try to figure it all out for yourself-you are more likely to fixate on the potential negative expression of the energy rather than welcoming the opportunity to know yourself more truthfully.” Thank you!
