Overnight Success Susan Boyle

Monday, June 1st, 2009 | Current Planetary trends, Venus stories

Imagine living 48 years in relative obscurity and then two months of unprecedented fame and attention. In March when Susan Boyle made headlines across the globe and her performance made history on You Tube, I wrote about her chart, and came to the conclusion that she would get a record deal but would not win. The press and media love to sensationalize the life of people—they have become increasingly invasive, aggressive. News comes to us in sound bites, headlines intended to sell advertising or copy. Even Canadian National News broadcasts have followed her sensational rise to fame, I learnt about her second place on the evening news and the next day (May 31) CTVs national news broadcast advised the audience that Susan had checked into a London clinic. From the same source I also heard that she had checked into a hotel to escape the media the night prior to the finale. How do you cope with such dramatic, sudden rise to fame—this kind of popularity typically belongs to the rich and famous, who usually have had some time to adjust to it, find a publicity person and advisors to help cope with the media. From a perspective of astrology, Susan’s birth certificate was almost instantly available on the web. We can instantly find out what is going on with her by googling her name. The latest is that she has reportedly suffering from mental exhaustion. Other than the press, who would be surprised?

Throughout April and May, Venus, Mars and Mercury (on the outside in red) have been occupying placements that trigger Susan’s T-square pattern. This pattern is both dynamic and stressful (the red circles identify the planets in the chart). The lines in the centre connect all of the energies in her chart, which tends to mean that when she reacts and responds to life, she is completely engaged. This chart is the same I used in the first item about her chart.

So the finale in Britain aired with a Mercury station; these represent a change in direction. Mars just changed signs from Aries to Taurus May 31, Venus is about to reach Susan’s natal Venus. Jupiter and Neptune are at the same degree-when outer planets form aspects to our natal planets there tends to be external influences at play in our lives. This is both a time of opportunity to take action and a potential time of stress.

Venus has been in Aries since February; remember that Venus only holds this intensity in Aries once every eight years! We have all felt it, but fortunately for most of us not out there in public. This has been going on so long, with pressure building and naturally Mars was in his sign of Aries for six weeks ending yesterday. When I write horoscope columns and this factor is in play, I tend to state that now is not a good time to tell the boss exactly what you think, because during this time we tend to either feel extra aggressive/assertive or need to handle people who are. I expect there have been many moments when she wanted to escape, bow out of the competition. However, as she sings, she had a dream… Venus has a couple of advisors at the moment (these are aspects from other planets) which complicates the issue. Neptune makes it seem all surreal-like a dream and Jupiter encourages her to go on…

The Sun is in Gemini at the moment—hidden in Susan’s 12th house—which can be an indication of isolation, fear and also hospitalization. She is fine, but there is a lot of stress because of the sudden onset of both fame and future riches too much action and activity for a private, shy person. She is reported to have lost it with the press-that debilitated Mars in Cancer can be over reactive; she has had an onslaught of attention after 48 years of obscurity. All of this is far too new for her. Venus retrograde in a chart often tells that we did not get enough opportunity to learn about social skills thus we have limited tools about how we are expected to behave. In very short order the planets begin to move out of the ‘stress’ zone and hopefully in the interim she can escape for a few days.

I expect to be purchasing her first CD late this year. I do hope she finds herself a financial advisor. Simon Cowell, the guy who created the show, was involved in the launching of the group, Il Divo and is said to be the one offering or involved in the recording deal for Susan. Out of curiosity I googled Cowell, and learned his date of birth October 7, 1959 in Brighton, UK-www.wikipedia.org. So he is a Libra Sun with Venus the ruler of Libra in Virgo. He was born during a time when Venus spent several months in Virgo; Venus had turned direct in motion about 2weeks before he was born. Astrologically speaking that shows he can excel at being critical. In the following illustration his planets are on the outer wheel, wrapped around Susan’s chart. Libra can be absolutely charming but also the opposite—I like to think of Libra as the mediator in a debate, or lawyer in a court room, getting each side to work at it; sometimes it takes playing the adversary.

The curiosity part only applies to whether Cowell has connections to Susan’s chart and will promote her career. I have circled the connections. Simon’s Venus-Pluto pair is on Susan’s Pluto-North Node pair—this would state that he can help her move toward her destiny. His Sun is on her Libra Moon, which taps into Susan t-square chart pattern, he can be rather instrumental in her success. The square from his Sun to her Mars shows that the two are likely to have lots of disagreements, she might feel that is stressful but for him it means things are being shaken up and there will be action.

When our personal planets connect with another’s there is a connection. The fact that their outer planets connect simply tells us they were born within two years of each other.

I will be posting an item about outer planets in your chart and about the influence of outer planets to your personal planets in a week or so.
