Delta MLA progress report
Tuesday, May 26th, 2009 | Canadian Politics, Mundane astrology | No Comments
I wrote a prediction about this riding Monday May 18, http://www.annemassey.ca/2009/05/18/delta-south-mla/— stating that Wally Oppal would be defeated in this riding and that it would still most likely go to a judicial recount. According to the newsfeed there were 918 absentee, Vicky Huntington received a total of 9,977 votes and 9,945 votes were cast for Oppal. Because the margin of the win was so close, the vote will now go to a judicial count to confirm the result. This and another riding were the recount changed the victor now has 50 Liberals, 35 NDP and one independent. I do think this result stands, but I guess these two candidates won’t breathe easy until that result is in.

Vicky Huntington and Wally Oppal
This article is an intellectual exercise to determine the winner in the contested South Delta riding using two horary charts. The latest information is that incumbent Wally Oppal who declared himself the winner on election night leads by three votes, which means that there will be an automatic recount and also that votes cast prior to the election are not yet included in the numbers. He was serving as the Solicitor-General in Campbell’s cabinet prior to the dissolution of the legislative assembly and the election writ issued April 17—the official date for the start of the campaign. I was thinking of writing a post script for my election analysis posted April 11, 2009, in which I stated that the BC Liberals would win. Read my earlier post at http://www.annemassey.ca/2009/04/11/bc-elections-a-close-race/. However, I was distracted by this particular riding where there will be an automatic recount. I don’t have the option to look at the charts of the candidates, because I have no data for Oppal, other than he was born in 1940. I have even less for the independent candidate Vicki Huntington. The recount will not begin until May 25, when Mercury will still be retrograde in Taurus (23°53′); the Sun was at 22°30′, when the polls closed on May 12 at 20:00 PDT. Two days later when the results will be announced (May 27) Mercury will be at 23°16′ and on May 30 Mercury changes direction at 22°52′. The reason I am listing the actual degrees is that Mercury of accounting, counting and recounting will not return to the Sun’s degree on Election Day, which suggests that recount might not favour Oppal. However, I do not have a time for the announcement of the result of the recount, thus casting or reading an event chart is not an option. There are numerous aspects between the planets that day suggesting lots of news and activity. We will have a New Moon on Sunday May 24—a new direction with changes… maybe. › Continue reading
Blog upgrade
Thursday, May 7th, 2009 | Astrology for You, General information | No Comments
I upgraded the site May 7, 2009. It now has he latest version of WP. Upgrades and maintenance are ideal activity during Mercury retrograde. I must say reading those astrological symbols and glyphs is easier than reading code. Thank you for tech support Mike, it was easier than I dreaded. Mike designed the custom blog layout and functionality for me. Link to his site is at the bottom of the page. Please let me know if you find glitches on the site. Looks good at my end.
Here we go again

This Mercury period follows a Venus retrograde period—and Venus has been Aries forever it seems— which all began after the first Mercury retrograde period in January. Some things are in a holding pattern and what is moving ahead may not be what we planned. Mercury will spend 116 days in air signs (Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius) and 163 days in earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) this year, leaving the other six signs 86 days. So once again, the planet of communication, Mercury, is about to turn retrograde. Happens every four months, but we all hear about it and it is one astro-event we like to blame when we lose things, communication goes awry or our flight is delayed. There is much more to Mercury than meets the eye or ear as the case may be. Mercury is elemental, meaning that each year an element is emphasized. 2009 is a transition from Air of thoughts and ideas into Earth of practical application—rolling up our sleeves and getting stuff done. › Continue reading
Susan Boyle Venus story
Monday, May 4th, 2009 | Astrology for You, Current Planetary trends, Venus stories | 1 Comment
Venus retrograde has exceptional, innate and often ‘secret’ talent as obviously has Susan Boyle, who appeared as a contestant on the British show—Britain’s Got Talent on April 11, 2009. I highly recommend you listen to the performance on You Tube and check out the Cry me a River recording from 1999 as well. It is so refreshing to hear a beautiful voice not buried under the music. There are recordings without musical accompaniment. Susan Boyle has Venus retrograde in Aries in her natal chart, which naturally fascinates me and re-enforces the statements I made about the Venus cycles in my book, Venus, her Cycles, Symbols and Myths published in 2006 by Llewellyn. I saw Susan’s birth data in NCGR’s E-newsletter in an item written by Jackie Slevin. So, out of curiosity I thought I’d cast the chart and see what made her an instant celebrity. Because my program didn’t have the correct latitude and longitude for her birth town, Blackburn, Scotland, I had to do some additional research. Well, I don’t recall the last time that there was so much discussion about the accuracy of the data. There are two birthdates floating on the web. The verified one is April 1, 1961 at 9:50 AM (-1hr GMT) See footnote 1 However, if you Google Susan Boyle you will find an analysis using this date and June 15 of the same year. It would be easier to state that a beautiful voice belongs to someone with Venus in Taurus as was the case by June 15 that year. Robert Blaschke (www.earthwalkastrology.com) wrote an item for the Mountain Astrologer online blog, which eloquently addresses the prenatal eclipse chart for Susan. › Continue reading
