BC Budget 2009

Tuesday, February 17th, 2009 | Canadian Politics

In British Columbia the budget talk is delivered at 14:30 PST February 17, 2009. Like all budgets, stimulus packages and alike—this one will take time to filter to the designated cause(s). Venus is in Aries, moving slowly toward her retrograde period (March 6-April 17). This tends to mean delays with money. Venus apart from love and romance is about personal finances. She is not well placed in Aries, the sign belongs to Mars. Venus will be at 10°Aries25′, when the budget is tabled and at 9°Aries19′ at the close of polls on Election Day. This will be the hottest debate during the campaign—the budget and all the flaws in it. Venus will return to square Pluto twice still; and when it happened the first time it was about the overruns of the Olympic costs and where was that money coming from.

Note that all of the Aquarius planets (highlighted in pink) are in the area of treasury (the eighth house). The Moon is in a harmonious aspect to Venus and the two connect to Mars-Jupiter; this is an expensive budget for purchasing votes. The eighth house is also about debt and obligation, and shows that this budget will take the province into red ink. Saturn in the second house of assets is an indication that this will impact our credit rating negatively. Seeing that nothing is linked to Pluto in Capricorn, which is the energy linked to reform and change and that Venus is returning to square it twice-April 3 and May 2—I wouldn’t be surprised if we had strikes over the content of this budget. Naturally this would help Carole James’ cause as the leader of the opposition.

Typical of politics and budgets, the content of the budget is leaked ahead of time. Education and health care are receiving funds, other ministries will have cuts. With Pluto in the sixth house of health care this is obvious from the astrology. Education in this chart is ruled by Mercury and Jupiter, and Saturn is in the third opposing Uranus in the ninth, the education houses—the stressor for the next year and a half. Mismanagement of funds will likely emerge as a major bone of contention.

I will look at Campbell versus James-two Capricorn Sun leaders and the May 12 provincial election in another post. Historically the most common way of becoming the premier in BC is through the resignation of the premier in office. Being elected is a rather novel way of getting in historically.

I talked about financial indications in http://www.annemassey.ca/2009/02/10/financial-astrology-recession-depression posted February 10, 2009.
