Liberals Budget Vote

Ignatieff is scheduled to meet with his caucus at 18:00 on January 27, 2009 to decide how to vote on Wednesday at 11:00. Finally some times to look at. The budget was released to the public with the Moon void of course in Aquarius. This timing tells me that all the promises need to be honoured and that most of the content was known already. During the Caucus meeting the Moon continues to be void, which tells me this meeting is a formality the decision has already been made, it simply needs to be formalized. Leo is ascending in Ottawa at 18:00, which puts Ignatieff’s Taurus Sun-Mercury at the top in the event chart; the caucus will follow his lead.
What will happen next? The first aspect the Moon makes after Moving into Pisces at 1:12 EST on January 28 is to Pluto in Capricorn and in the sixth house of the workforce. Thus I expect that this will play out by the Liberals demanding adjustments to how the budget addresses the needs of the displaced workforce. One of the topics is likely to be the EI eligibility extension of five weeks (not long enough) and perhaps also that the amount is not adequate. You cannot live and pay your bills with a mere $447 a week (that is the maximum amount offered by the government). In my previous post, http://www.annemassey.ca/2009/01/25/budget-canada-january-2009/ I talked about the changes and adjustments we can expect.
The Moon-Pluto configuration is a wonderful time for the opposition to get demands met. The vote follows this aspect and there are no other ones for the 28th. I continue to state that the budget will pass. The reality is that with Liberal support the Bloc with its 77 MPs and the NDP with only 37 MPs cannot topple the Tory government. At 11:00 EST in Ottawa, Taurus is on the Ascendant both Harper and Ignatieff are stable, pragmatic Taureans. However, in 15-16 months the situation will be different-action, however, after the Winter Olympics. I am working on an analysis on Ignatieff’s solar chart and will post that in a few days.

Given an opportunity to do something good for Canada, Harper and Flaherty have decided it was more important to do something good for Conservatives.Tax relief for middle-income Canadians was penned in as promised. But in real terms, a few hundred dollars a year in less taxes is not going to change many spending patterns. Most of us in the middle class will enjoy a few extra dollars of course.

Andira, Fortunately for us ordinary people there is money in the budget to teach us to budget. Most people do not realize how little the tax cuts mean. Thanks for commenting. Anne
