Huff and Puff Rhetoric

Jack Layton has been stating he will vote against the budget. No qualifiers, no reading it over—I guess he got a taste of being in power within the coalition and with it reason and logic left the equation. Layton the leader of the NDP is one of 37 MPs from that political party in the parliament; that is 12 percent of the 308 MPs. Gilles Duceppe of Bloc Quebecois is echoing that statement. The bloc holds 49 seats in the Parliament and represents Quebec only. Will this choice hurt these politician and their parties? The vote will take place on Thursday, but that will be a mute point… however, our political scene will change—well have Taurus vs. Cancer. More about that in future posts. Writing these commentaries is so much fun. › Continue reading
Liberals Budget Vote

16:07 PST
Ignatieff is scheduled to meet with his caucus at 18:00 on January 27, 2009 to decide how to vote on Wednesday at 11:00. Finally some times to look at. The budget was released to the public with the Moon void of course in Aquarius. This timing tells me that all the promises need to be honoured and that most of the content was known already. During the Caucus meeting the Moon continues to be void, which tells me this meeting is a formality the decision has already been made, it simply needs to be formalized. Leo is ascending in Ottawa at 18:00, which puts Ignatieff’s Taurus Sun-Mercury at the top in the event chart; the caucus will follow his lead. › Continue reading
Budget Canada January 2009

Throne Speech and Budget finally arrive following the October 14, 2008 elections, the controversial Coalition threat and proroguing the Parliament. The budget will be tabled January 27, 2009. I don’t know the time of the budget announcement, but apparently it will be broadcast by CTV at 13:00 PST. I expect the session to open at 10:00 EST in Ottawa. Much of the timing appears rather irrelevant. But let’s note that the Parliament resumes following a Solar Eclipse, which in itself might indicate that this is not the time for grandstanding. True to form much of this information was made public days prior to the official budget. The tempest in the teacup and the coalition threat has faded out of the picture—the ‘threat’ has subsided. At 10:00 in Ottawa 12°Aries 14′ is Ascending, Canada’s Ascendant is 17°22′ of Aries. This sign ascends very fast at Northern latitudes. At 10:39 Taurus will be on the Ascendant. Cardinal signs such as Aries imply fast action. The ruler of Aries, Mars is exalted in Capricorn and in the 10th house separating from a recent conjunction to Mercury, this is an indication about how the details were already leaked before the budget was to be tabled. This little detail might also mean that some of the statements or promises will be retracted, probably within two weeks of the budget. › Continue reading

Obama Era

On January 20, 2009 Barack Obama becomes the 44th president of the United States of America. Officially the transfer of power takes place at noon in Washington DC. From an astrological perspective, the Moon is void of course in Scorpio. The Moon moves into Sagittarius at 12:30, half an hour after to the swearing in ceremony. The void of course period is typically defined as ‘not a good time for new action’. This concept was popularized by Al H. Morrison in the mid 1970s and it is a vital concept in horary astrology. Horary astrology is a branch of astrology which addresses questions posed at a specific time and place. When the Moon is void of course in a horary chart, the answer tends to be ‘nothing will come of it’ or ‘there is nothing to worry about’. Vedic astrology pays no attention to the void of course concept, naturally the Moon would not be void from this perspective at the inauguration as all planets are about 24 degrees earlier from the Western reckoning. › Continue reading
