Astrology of Relationships
Sunday, December 28th, 2008 | Ask Anne | 1 Comment
There are three different charts to analyze in order to look at what kind of relationship we are most likely to have. The first one is, of course, our own natal chart. Even if you don’t know much about astrology and read horoscopes you have discovered that the seventh house in an astrological chart is about relationships including marriage. Primarily we look at the seventh, fifth and eighth houses and their rulers for relationships. Some of us may use the marriage part—there are a few of these. The houses give us areas of life, fifth is about romance, creativity, and children; the eighth house is about shared resources and sexuality and through the seventh house we meet people. › Continue reading
Winter Solstice
Saturday, December 20th, 2008 | Current Planetary trends | No Comments
I have been typing for days it seems to post Astrologically Speaking Capricorn 2008 Edition and my annual horoscopes for each of the signs. Winter officially begins (Summer in the southern hemisphere) December 21 at 4:04 PST. The auto industry, well the two big ones GM and Chrysler received their billions with strings attached. I love how they called it forced restructuring, how very Capricornian. At the moment the planets are motoring on like a freight train in a very tight configuration. We know that kind of energy is difficult to stall. The fact that the rescue package, Ford got its own refinancing, is good for three months, i.e. a season, is interesting from an astrological perspective. By the time we get to spring we will have the current planetary energy re-energized, plus Venus of money will be retrograde in Aries… it will be interesting to see what other terms will be forced upon the industry. I expect we will see unions doing battle this spring. I will return to this blog with mundane commentary early in 2009. Wishing you a Merry Xmas and a happy New Year.
Harper and Ignatieff, two peas in a pod
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 | Current Planetary trends, Mundane astrology | No Comments
I was creating a graphic in anticipation of the Liberals naming their leader, which to me astrologically speaking was a foregone conclusion, and decided to make a quick grocery shop run, and in the car I heard the news which stated that Harper has to put in a televised request to the new leader of the Liberal Party—Michael Ignatieff—to meet with him to discuss the upcoming budget. I just about burst out laughing, in light of what I had just been working on, but a picture is worth a thousand words. Here comes that picture. › Continue reading
Liberal Party Saga…
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 | Current Planetary trends, Mundane astrology | No Comments
The saga continues with the Canadian Federal Liberal Party. In my earlier post –early hours of Monday December 8– I drew the conclusion that Ignatieff would more or less be acclaimed the new permanent leader by Friday Dec 12) at the latest. Sukhwinder’s comment states that Bob Rae stepping aside is already in the news. It isn’t a done deal yet, however, it is fascinating to watch the timing of the various announcements from Ottawa–invariable when the Moon has become void of course. That happens at 11:23 Ottawa time tomorrow Dec 10. All of the astrology, the comments by journalists in Canadian press are prompting me to look at the astrology of the budget, and the likelyhood of a constitutional crisis in the Spring… more to come, of course. Liberals Change Leaders
Monday, December 8th, 2008 | Current Planetary trends, Mundane astrology | 3 Comments
The Liberals have a scheduled meeting to discuss leadership of the party for Wednesday. However the biggest decision was already made over the weekend—Dion needs to step aside. I have been writing about Wednesday and potential outcome and who is likely to be at the helm. There seem to be persistent themes in the charts of the politicians playing the power battles in Ottawa. Most of the players in this drama have Neptune influencing a personal planet. Ideologies, the theatre, illusion, enchantment, deception, dissolution and drugs are some of the concepts astrology assigns to Neptune. In terms of perception through the lens of Neptune, let’s think how something looks on film as opposed to what our eyes see. Last week a movie was being shot in our little town, it was a Xmas movie so snow was needed. Workers laid out white batting on the ground and made a smidgen of artificial snow and once the movie is out in theatres people will see a beautiful snow-covered landscape… Photography is another illusion; a blurry lens will soften hard lines and make people look younger or illusive/ethereal; the wrong kind of lighting will do the opposite. We saw that with Dion’s address to the nation. › Continue reading
Chart for India
Friday, December 5th, 2008 | Current Planetary trends, Mundane astrology | No Comments
I have found two charts for India August 15, 1947, at 12:00 am IST, Delhi and Republic of India, January 26, 1950, at 10:15 am IST, Delhi. A student wondered what might have triggered the unrest and the events in Mumbai. In the chart for the Indepence Mars is a 0°Cancer and in the chart for the Republic Uranus is at 1° Cancer. Sometimes it is the obvious connections; Mars is the god of War, Uranus represents rebellion and Pluto as I have been discussed at length brings profound change by destroying and rebuilding, these are the extremes, of course. Pluto will not return to the first 39 minutes of the sign during its retrogradation next year, which may state that it won’t get quite as bad again, but there are more elements to consider in any chart.
Act II — (behind the) scene(s) I

Canadian politics hasn’t been this interesting in ages… Now we have an eight-week cooling period and I have some new charts to look at thanks to Chris McRae’s comments and her research into the various dates and times—thank you Chris. The Ratification date of our constitution by the King or sovereign on March 29, 1867 looks very interesting in light of the proroguing of government. The announcement was broadcast at 9:43 EST in Ottawa. It looks like Harper came on the air at 9:44:19 EDT. I will be looking at more charts… the lack of times means that we may not get the full picture but the planetary influence will give us many clues, which can make the analysis intriguing. BTW, all of the comments need to be approved by yours truly to prevent ’spamming’ for traffic; however, comments by people who post a real name and email will be posted. More later…about what I can derive from astrological ‘clues’ re the Liberal Party conundrum and what might happen late January…
Inspiring reading

A few months ago I picked up a copy of Paulo Coelho’s book–the Alchemist. It turned out to be a delightful read. I loved the way it makes you think about life and our journey through it. Left that book with a girlfriend, who was equally delighted with the book. It is making the rounds now. At the moment, I am reading his book ‘The Witch of Portebello’; the story of Athena through the lens of people who knew her. If you are looking for a good book for the holidays; I highly recommend these two.
For us astrologers both books have a mythological and astrological thread to them. In the first one I found a highly Mercurial theme and this one has interesting concepts to link to the Vertex in the astrological chart and in life.
Power battles on Parliamentary Hill

Pluto moved into Capricorn a week ago, and Saturn is slowing down and will station retrograde this month. Pluto’s shift influences us for 14 years and the intent is to change the way we govern our business and our countries. There has to be a solid plan and a sound plan to execute changes. Saturn’s retrograde period lasts 4.5 months and begins this month—this tends to mean that business slows down while we ‘research’ our options. For a year and a half we will have ‘battles’ about what structures need to be broken and which are working. For the first time in ages, Canadians are fired up about politics. This is my analysis of the players in this drama and the potential outcome. Yes, I expect we will have another federal election › Continue reading
