Virgos post-Saturn
Tuesday, November 18th, 2008 | Ask Anne
From Angela in Missouri: “Hi Anne…just a quick question, if it’s not too much trouble. I’m a Virgo and, of course, we’ve all been hearing about the fact that “taskmaster Saturn” is in the sign of Virgo through next year. Okay, my nose is to the grindstone, and I’m doing the best I can…but what I want to know is what big planet comes along for Virgos next, once Saturn is finished pounding us into the ground?”
I wouldn’t quite say pounding to the ground, I would say perfecting and making better and testing your ability to stay grounded. Saturn ‘forces’ us to learn how to do things in a practical fashion and with ‘creativity’ as we learn to do so without all the tools we would love to have. Necessity is often the the source of inventions.
The adjacent graphic shows Virgo on the ASC with the Sun in the first; the basic premise of writing for the Sun signs involves setting it up this way. Saturn will stay in Virgo through October 2009 and then returns for another four months in 2010. The Sun, the glyph in orange, is about who you are, your identity and that which you a perfecting in this life. It is also about your appearance and general attitude.
None of the big planets come to your sign for a while. Saturn does this at 30-year intervals. Uranus has a cycle of 84 years and spends about 7 years in a sign. It was in Virgo in the 1960s. Uranus is in the relationship sector for Virgo Sun or Virgo rising through 2010, this began in 2003.
Neptune spends about 14 years in a sign and has been in the work and health sector for Virgo since 1998; Jupiter with its 12 year cycle enters Aquarius in early 2009. Any issues that are associated with Neptune, such as escapism or failing to see reality will be exposed and exaggerated when Jupiter and Neptune meet at the end of 2009. Pluto has been in Sagittarius from 1996 and will re-enter Capricorn at the end of November. This influence with last until 2023, with another brief stint in 2024. This area for Virgo has to do with romance, creativity, income from real estate, children and speculation. Pluto tends to eliminate anything that is not viable and thus enabling us to grow something better in its place. For Virgo this is a nice aspect, and more likely is allowing you to own more of your own abilities. Read this month’s column Virgo 2008 and read more about the sign of Virgo. Anne

Actually, Virgos will get a giant boost as Pluto enters Capricorn, a fellow earth sign. What has seemed like a never ending string of challenges will gradually (or possibly not so gradually!) give way to powerful opporutnities for you to take practical action.
We have been teased by Pluto entering Capricorn, only to turn back to Sagittarius from January to July of 2008. Now this powerhouse planet is in Capricorn for the next decade and a half. So, if you have wished for a bit more power and personal control in your life, dear Virgo, now is your chance!
